Weddings
Live portrait drawing is a fun entertainment for your guests! Most couples are looking for guest portraits during the time between their ceremony and reception, or at their evening reception.
I draw portraits face to face only, and not from photographs! This is so that I can get a sense of the sitter’s personality and give them my undivided attention. I work fast, with each drawing taking up to 7 minutes, but typically between 3-5 minutes per person. All I need is a well-lit spot at your venue, a table where I can set up my easel and materials, and two chairs. If natural light is not available, the table must be positioned near a socket where I can plug in a lamp.
Live portrait drawing is best suited to smaller weddings of around 50-60 guests. In order to work as efficiently as possible, I usually bring my assistant, Katie, who manages flow to make sure that there are no queues but that I am always busy, and she also packages portraits for guests.
All portraits are hand drawn with permanent ink and lightfast pencil on paper and handed to guests at the time, presented either in an envelope matching your colour scheme or in a cellophane bag with backing board to protect the portraits and keep them flat.
Pricing (including all materials & packaging) starts at £600 for 3 hours then £100 p/h thereafter. Mileage outwith Dundee City is charged at 45p per mile or the cost of an ‘Anytime’ return train ticket. To enquire about live portrait illustration at your wedding, send me an email with your date, venue and number of guests and I will get back to you with a bespoke quote.
